Drag has ever-changing definitions, parameters, connections, expectations, and genres depending on who you ask. Drag Biz's mission is to contextualize, legitimize, celebrate, and support this craft by adding a business lens to the coverage of drag entertainers and the other artists/creators who drive this vibrant industry. (And don't worry: we're in the business of having some fun, too. It is drag, after all!)
On Drag Biz, expect to see stories, explainers, interviews, guides, reviews, recaps, updates, rankings, industry overviews, and other formats that support our mission. Between major platforms (e.g. RuPaul's Drag Race, The Boulet Brothers' Dragula, King of Drag, and the Miss Continental pageant), overall history, social media discourse/trends, insightful statistics, independent creations, and new releases.
Covering the most popular drag artists of a given era — and of all time — is an important scope to identify new blueprints and possibility models for drag artistry. Yet, Drag Biz is equally interested in spotlighting living legends, online creators, emerging talent, global sensations, and other artists so often dismissed and overlooked by the press.
Drag is one of the oldest and most important art forms for self-expression and creativity, full-stop. It has also been a important craft for the LGBTQ+ community. As well-established artistic institutions and news organizations play catch up, Drag Biz looks forward to deepening the discourse around drag, widening the scope of talent that gets to be featured in the press, and having a kiki with our audience.
